When we travel, there are two ways of going about with that. One, there is traveling in style. This is the part where you don't care at all about the cost of where you stay and the price of the items you choose to shop. And number two, this is the less stylish and fabulous travel plan. This is where you try your best to spend as little as possible whenever and wherever.

If you are not the incredibly wealthy person who can afford to splurge several thousands of dollars on a trip, these few travel saving tips might actually help you save hundreds of dollars on wherever you go.

1. Do not stay in a five-star hotel if you have a choice.

If your travel costs are not shouldered by your company or a wealthy sponsor, having the most luxurious accommodations might be pushing your luck a little bit too far. A night at a five star hotel might range from a few hundred dollars to even as much as nearly twenty thousand dollars.

If you really need to travel, think about choosing hotels that are easier on your pocket like a holiday inn or a motel. This might not have all the glitz and glamour of more expensive hotels but at least you have got a decent room to stay in at reasonably low prices. Through this, you could save hundreds, if not thousands even.

2. Just bring enough cash with you and not more than one credit card on your trip out of town.

One big mistake that people make during trips and vacations is that they tend to bring too much money than what is needed. This provides an opportunity for some hard to resist temptation to buy those gadgets, purses and designer clothes that you've definitely got your eye on for quite some time. Having too much money brought on a trip would lead you to believe that you have some surplus money on you that you could pass of as disposable. Another thing that could happen there is that you might want to buy something that you'll come to regret after its novelty wears off.

3. Try riding on a bus when possible.

Riding on buses or cars to get to the other end of the state or country is not as bad as you think it to be. It might actually be quite an experience. Riding over a thousand miles to where you want to go may have its disadvantages like improper sleeping positions or long travel times, but if you've got nothing but time on your hands why not enjoy what the sights have to offer while youare on the road? After all, taking a road trip is very much a very fulfilling experience if you're willing to rough it out every once in a while. Aside from that, think of all the new things you will learn when you cross from town to town and state after state - think elizabethtown.
